September Bendigo StartUp MeetUp – Innovative Women Leading Health

Organiser: Create Business
24 September 2020, Thursday
5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

The September Bendigo StartUp MeetUp will be an insightful panel discussion facilitated by the Bendigo Health Accelerator (BHx) Manager Kylie Ovenden and three female founders of startups that are part of the inaugural BHx Program 2020 – Age Up Health, Ampisafe and Social Impact Software.

A key element of building a gender balanced world is fostering a culture of ‘women supporting women’ – please forward this invite to other like-minded women who would benefit from this session.

Age Up Health was founded by Grace Petherick. The service is a new aged care provider offering, which is more flexible than current approaches to in-home support. The service offering is designed to reduce the length of stay of aged patients in an acute setting and deliver a high-quality customised service in the home to support this process. Each client is allocated a care companion and a care coordinator responsible for designing a unique program for each client. The flow-on effect to this is that the aged population can move back home with wraparound support services, resulting in fewer days of hospitalisation, superior transition into the home and better health for the elderly.

Ampisafe founder Annette Nunn is a practicing nurse at a private surgery in Mildura. Ampisafe was created through necessity when a number of safety concerns were identified whilst assisting in everyday minor surgeries. Ampisafe’s simplistic clear design allows for clear identification of ampule contents, ensures that no shards of glass are able to injure the user when opening an ampule, eliminates the chance of needle stick injuries on redraw and maintains sterile field throughout the procedure. Ampisafe creates a strong sense of confidence for both the user and patient, particularly with the new ‘social distancing’ conditions, as Ampisafe aids and supports social distancing in a medical environment.

Social Impact Software develops health research technology in partnership with Research Path Pty Ltd; a long-term provider of data management solutions for Australian clinical and epidemiology research. Both companies are led by husband and wife team Adam Meehan and commercial lead Lexi Randall-L’Estrange. Lexi has a diverse background spanning technology, online business, and social innovation and is the commercial lead for both companies. She is involved in the health and innovation ecosystem in Central Victoria as Chair of CHIRP Community Health and Co-Founder of The Castlemaine Institute. Adam has 20 years experience in health data management and software and brings his passion for the importance of data quality in research to his role as technical lead and product owner for both companies. Since setting up the Research Data Centre for Dept. of Epidemiology at Monash University, Adam established Research Path where he designed and built the Clinical Trial Management System (CTMS).
