Employment Relations Advisor, VIC – WFH

The opportunity.

This in turn has created exciting opportunities within our phone-based Employment Relations advice team!

This role will see you responding to inbound Employment relation queries via email and telephone from a huge range of Employsure clients. Your role will see you providing accurate and expert advice on disciplinary and performance management matters, dismissals, wage rates, discrimination, bullying and harassment, work health and safety queries and many more.

The role will give you exposure to a huge range of industries and ER issues, growing both your knowledge and experience. You will constantly be learning and developing with our fantastic ongoing training and various opportunities to grow your career within Employsure, with our overall people goal at Employsure being to make all employees Better.

Key accountabilities

  • Provide exceptional workplace relations advice by phone and email
  • Guide our SME clients to manage their ER matters from strategy to execution
  • Communicate complex information or concepts to clients without using technical jargon
  • Provide timely and practical advice to clients from all industry types
  • Deliver industry defining service by partnering with clients as a trusted Adviser

The right person will have:

  • Previous HR, ER or Employment Law experience, ideally within an advisory role
  • Strong knowledge of the Modern Award system and National Employment Standards
  • Experience managing employee matters such as disciplinary action, redundancies, and performance management
  • Excellent communication skills are essential both verbal and written
  • qualifications in law, industrial relations or human resources are preferred

New Industrial Manslaughter Penalties take effect this Wednesday (1 July, 2020)





As of July 1st 2020, Work Safe Victoria and Victorian State Government will introduce a new criminal offence of workplace manslaughter into occupational health and safety laws here in Victoria.  This is great news as it will means safer workplaces across our region, but does mean business owners must be on top of their Workplace Health and Safety.

The offence applies to negligent conduct by an employer or other duty holders, or an officer of an organisation, which breaches certain duties under the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 (OHS Act) and causes the death of another person who was owed the duty.

The new law aims to prevent workplace death, provide a stronger deterrent for duty holders to comply with their occupational health and safety obligations, and to send a strong message that putting people’s lives at risk in the workplace will not be tolerated.

The positive news is that if you are already complying with your OHS duties, you are doing the right thing and you will not need to do anything different from 1 July. If you are not complying, the consequences for not thinking about workplace risk can be much more severe with a maximum of 25 years imprisonment and $16.5 Million in penalties now available.
