Leading Teams Australia – A new and permanent presence in Bendigo and district.
My name is Brendan Maher and I have recently joined Leading Teams Australia having spent 40 years teaching and leading various primary schools around Victoria.
At Leading Teams we focus on the dynamics of organisations, that is, the way people interact and the behaviours we model, reward and challenge. We believe a high performing team has the following four fundamentals:
- A clear, understood and accepted common purpose.
- A behavioural framework that has been developed by and agreed to by the team.
- Strong professional relationships built on trust and respect.
- A process for the ongoing review of our team and ourselves against the behavioural framework.
The programs we develop, in consultation with you, will allow leaders and staff members to take ownership of their organisation’s culture and ultimately improve their performance.
My best contact is by phone on 0409 161707 or my email is email@example.com
I look forward to having the chance to discuss with you how Leading Teams can be your best business partner.
Announcement – Hargreaves Mall Hotel development
t is proposed that the southern portion of the Beehive Building (306-314 Hargreaves Street) which currently comprises several retail and office spaces (mostly vacant), be redeveloped for the purposes of a 110 room residential hotel.
The Hotel will be a member of the international Accor group of hotels under the Mantra Brand. The hotel will comprise a restaurant, bar, lounges, corporate function space, and board room facility all located on the ground floor, with 5 levels of 4.5-star accommodation above. It is proposed that the various hotel facilities not only be utilised by the hotel guests but also be made available to the wider public.
The Mantra hotel will have three access points. As a pedestrian, the hotel will be able to be accessed via Hargreaves Mall or from Pall Mall via the mining exchange. A vehicular valet and drop off service is proposed to be offered in Mitchell Lane. Discussions have been ongoing with the City of Greater Bendigo over the past 12 months in relation to an arrangement whereby hotel guests can either park their car, or utilise the hotel valet parking service to park their car, in one of the councils existing or future proposed multideck car parks.
The appointed project heritage architect has assessed the site and as a result of their findings and discussions with Heritage Victoria, it is proposed that the existing red brick wall in Mitchel Lane be retained. As the site is a listed Heritage Victoria site, an application has been lodged with Heritage Victoria and is currently being assessed. A town planning application has also been lodged to the City of Greater Bendigo for their consideration.
If the applications with Heritage Victoria and the City of Greater Bendigo are successful, it is proposed that the Bendigo Mantra Hotel in the Hargreaves Mall will open in Mid-2022

Bendigo Health Accelerator (BHx) Startup in Residence Megan Gomez
Megan Gomez was part of the Melbourne Health Accelerator (MHx) last year, and will be our Startup-in-Residence this year for the BHx to pass on her experience to new startups.
Megan’s observations as a journalist across regional and rural Australia illuminated some harsh truths. “I spent a lot of time reporting on drought, natural disasters, bushfires and isolation,” Ms Gomez said.
Ms Gomez had an idea of creating a secure online video platform that linked people to psychologists from their own home. That idea became a reality in September when Rural Health Connect was officially launched.
She credits the MHx, which helped her to develop and test the program to ensure it was market ready.
“It gave me a really clear direction of what I needed to do, sometimes when you’re working on an idea on your own you can get a bit lost and don’t know how or where to focus your time,” she said.
She urged anyone with an idea, regardless of how advanced it was, to consider the BHx program.
For more information on BHx, please visit the FAQs page or you can email firstname.lastname@example.org
